MEET YOUR COUNSELOR
Hello!
My name is Becky Romero and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing in the state of Florida where I offer my services via telehealth and in an office setting. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I have spent the last 10 years helping clients in different settings that include inpatient psychiatry, outpatient mental health counseling, and over a year providing supportive counseling to families with an infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In June 2022, my journey with private practice began and it has been such an exciting opportunity to explore and continue working with individuals on a deeper level. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and skill set with new clients seeking individual counseling. I specialize in working with clients with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am trained in EMDR therapy and anticipate becoming a certified EMDR therapist by the end of this year.

WHAT CAN CLIENTS EXPECT?
Each client can expect a safe and therapeutic environment that is free of judgement in a setting where you can be your most authentic self. Sometimes the trust between client and therapist comes automatic and other times it takes a few sessions to build. There is no right way, only the way that is the most comfortable for you.
During our first session, I will collect some history to get to know you better and we will both decide together on next steps as we formulate therapeutic goals we would like to accomplish. Our goals are not intended to be set in stone and we will adjust as we progress. Keep in mind that every person moves at a different pace and will encounter and overcome different barriers and that is okay. Healing is the goal and progress is not measured only in time. Progress can be measured by many things and even the small things count.
TREATMENT METHODS AND TOOLS UTILIZED
In working with me, I will not only help you learn tools to help you cope with your symptoms but also help you to get to the root cause and begin to eliminate symptoms altogether. I will guide you and empower you to work through any barriers you encounter using tools that include mindfulness, expressive and relaxation techniques, emotional freedom techniques, guided imagery, and other evidence-based techniques that may be suitable for you. I am an EMDR practitioner and can utilize my skills to help those struggling with past trauma. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This type of therapy can be helpful in removing any anxiety, pain, or stress related to traumatic memories that are affecting the present.
